Columbo

Single-finger capture in 25 grams.

FAP 30 (Single-finger Verification) FBI PIV-Certified FIPS 201

Columbo is the FAP 30, FBI PIV-certified single-finger fingerprint scanner small enough to fit in a closed fist. At 25 grams, it captures certified single-finger flats and rolls for unattended verification, mobile authentication, and embedded identity workflows.

Why Columbo

Faster

  • Rapid dry finger capture
  • No need to clean latent prints in high-volume situations
  • Easy integration via single SDK for all Integrated Biometrics certified products

Better

  • Unaffected by extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, or bright artificial lights
  • The smallest and lightest scanner in the IB line at just 25 grams
  • Rejects common spoofing attacks
  • Emits no bright lights during scans
  • Meets or exceeds US military durability specifications

Smarter

  • One SDK for all IB scanners, compatible with IB software offerings
  • Responsive support team that answers in hours, not weeks
  • Twenty years of certifications and live field deployments
  • Extremely low power consumption with no consumables to replace

Patented LES Technology

Integrated Biometrics' scanners use our patented light-emitting sensor (LES) technology to deliver fixed and mobile FBI certified fingerprint imaging in an exceptionally durable, lightweight scanner.

LES-based biometric solutions provide picture-perfect image quality in both direct and indirect sunlight and are resistant to finger contaminants such as grease, oil, water, dust, and chemicals.

Where Columbo Shows Up

Banking & Retail Verification

Customer authentication at the counter, credit and financial services verification, and retail point-of-service identity checks. IB's Uruguay partner CommandLine integrated Columbo into Redpagos retail locations, where it provides quick, accurate identity confirmation for in-store customer service.

Education & Public Sector

Government attendance verification, public-sector workforce identity, and program-integrity audits. The Pakistan Education Department uses Columbo with mobile identity kits to verify teachers in remote villages, part of a national effort to limit the 'ghost school' fraud that a UNICEF study tied to roughly five million children losing access to education.

Healthcare & Public Health

Patient identification for long-term care, HIV-exposed-infant follow-up programs, mother and caregiver continuity-of-care registries. Columbo's small form factor and low ridge distortion make it practical for clinical and field-health workflows where a desktop scanner is impractical.

Mobile ID & Law Enforcement

Embedded in mobile identity solutions for government and law-enforcement programs, including Motorola's Pronto Software and S.I.C. Biometric Solutions' SMARTcase platform, which generates compliant files for submission to Interpol, FBI, and other AFIS systems.
